Welcome to our Wedding at a 14th Century Castle (Sep 2016)

Here is a list of people we used for our wedding in the hope that it may help people wanting to do a similar thing.

Venue: Langley Castle

We have been to probably 50 castles up and down the country but were looking for a castle in the Cumbria/Northumberland/Manchester area. After seeing quite a few castles we settled with Langley Castle as the others just seemed either too commercial or didn’t have the feeling of ancient history. We had also stayed over at Langly several years before as well. Langley runs a tight ship. I have to say the day was quite effortless. Langley seemed to work out as better value that the other castles. We also wanted a venue that if it rained we could easily get great photos in the venue too.

Video: Purple Ribbon Weddings

You can see the video on the homepage for yourself. Leo did a fantastic job on it. What I love about Purple Ribbon is they capture the personalities of the bride and groom in the video, it’s quite impressive, you can see what I mean in their videos. Also what we loved about them was that they were invisible. No people with huge cameras on their shoulders getting in every photo just a great video that captures the essence of the day.

Flowers: Nicola Alexander Dent

We visited a number of different florists but in the end, Nicola was our firm favourite. What we loved about Nicola was that she had already done several weddings at Langley previously, so knew how to “dress” the castle. I have to say we knew next to nothing about flowers and what we wanted. We knew we wanted a natural look and some colours that complimented the bridesmaids but that was really it. We did a google hunt to find things we liked but in our first meeting with us she really did show us all the different options we could go with based on the imagery we had come up with and in the end did an amazing job!!

We wanted to make sure that the photographer knew the venue well so if it did rain, they would know how to get the best photos. We naturally asked a couple of the staff at the venue and then local wedding fairs who their favourite photographer was. It was quite amazing that the majority of people we asked recommended Alan. His photos were really stunning so we gave him a call and by chance managed to get his last weekend he was available which was our wedding!
